About Jeanette

A lifetime with horses, an independent eye and a personal approach to saddle fitting.

I’m Jeanette Zehner, founder of Sattelbalance and a saddle fitter. I have ridden since early childhood, competed in dressage up to Class M (medium level) as a young rider, and to this day I invest in very good instructors and trainers.

That makes a difference. You can think through movement in theory. But once you have felt a horse piaffe, passage or perform flying changes, you understand how a saddle needs to sit in those moments.

My training comes from practice: ongoing professional development with various saddleries, a workshop at the back symposium of the Institute of Anatomy at Leipzig University, and training as a fascia therapist. Biomechanics and anatomy are my focus, and I speak about them at trade fairs and in my own courses.

“The best saddle is the one the horse doesn’t feel.”

My aim is to accompany horse and rider over the long term, not simply to sell a saddle.

Independent advice, practical support

My range includes several saddle brands rather than one. And because adjustments and rebuilds are carried out by me or my master saddler, the fit never depends on a manufacturer's service. I put saddles, manufacturers and equipment through their paces and develop existing models further together with the manufacturers.
